What is Swapfiets for Business?
Your employees each get their own bike on subscription, with all repairs and maintenance included. Here's how it works, what it costs and how to get started.
Swapfiets for Business
With Swapfiets for Business, your employees each get their own bike on subscription, and you get one invoice a month for all of them. You'll need at least 2 subscriptions to open an account, and from there you can add or remove people whenever your team changes.
What your employees get
A high-quality bike of their own, in whichever of our 4 models suits them best: the Original for everyday city riding, the Deluxe 7 with 7 gears, or the Power 1 and Power 7 for longer distances and hills with electric support. It's theirs to use however they like, from the commute to work trips to only personal use.
Every subscription is monthly and cancellable with 30 days' notice, so nobody is tied into a long-term contract, and neither are you.
Repairs and maintenance come with it, as often as needed, with no limit and no excess. If something breaks, your employee books a service appointment through the app and brings the bike in. Most take about 10 minutes and they ride away on a working bike. If we can't fix it there and then, they get a different bike instead, so they're never left without one.
What it costs and who pays what
You pay our standard monthly price, excluding VAT. In the Netherlands that's:
| Bike | Per month (excl. VAT) |
|---|---|
| Original | €16.45 |
| Deluxe 7 | €19.75 |
| Power 1 | €49.50 |
| Power 7 | €61.90 |
Prices differ per country, and you'll find yours under [costs and tax in your country]. There's no separate business rate and no volume discount. You're on our flexible monthly price, which is what lets you cancel any subscription with 30 days' notice instead of committing for years.
We always invoice you for the full subscription, whatever you decide to contribute. From there it's your call: you can cover the whole cost as a benefit, split it, or pass it on in full. If your employees pay a share, you take that off their gross or net salary, and we can send you a CSV report to make that straightforward.
Charges work separately. These are one-off costs outside the subscription, like damage beyond normal wear, a lost or stolen bike, a replacement key, or a missed appointment. You choose whether to cover these too or leave them with your employee, and we set that up when you sign the contract. Anything you don't cover, we charge your employee directly. All the amounts are in Appendix III of our general terms and conditions.
What you end up paying also depends on where you are. Most countries have a tax scheme that lowers the cost for you, your employee, or both, and that's usually where the real saving comes from.
Where you can use it
Swapfiets for Business is available in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, France, the United Kingdom, Austria and Spain. Your employees can pick up a bike in any city where we're active, so it works even if your team is spread across several locations.
How to get started
-
Email us at business@swapfiets.com and let us know you're interested. Tell us roughly how many employees you have in mind and how you want to offer Swapfiets to your employees.
-
Have a quick call with us. 15 minutes is usually enough to walk through how everything works, what the options are, and the tax side. Most companies find this the easiest way to get a clear picture before deciding.
-
Sign the framework agreement. Once you've decided, we'll send it over for signing.
-
Share the sign-up link with your team. We'll give you a link along with promotional material you can use to launch it internally.
From there, everything runs by itself. Your employees deal with us directly for anything to do with their bike, and you get one invoice a month.
If you're a freelancer or sole trader, you don't need a business account at all. Here's the simpler route. And if you're wondering about company pool bikes or delivery bikes, we no longer offer these to new customers.
