Moving to a new city with your Swapfiets bike

As long as Swapfiets is available in your new city, and within the same country, you can take your membership with you!

Options for moving within the same country

Please check beforehand if we are offering service in the new city you are moving to. Find out where we are located on the service map below. Check our Swapfiets Service Area Map to see if we operate in your new city.

We are offering 2 options for when you are moving cities: 

  • You can drop off your bike at your local Swapfiets store before you are moving. Then, you can pick up your new Swapfiets in a Swapfiets store when you have moved to your new city. Contact our Swapfiets support team before you move so we can transfer your account and set up your new bike pickup.
  • If you don't want to part with your bike, you can simply take your Swapfiets along with you in your moving vehicle. If you choose this option, you can plan it all via your Swapfiets app!

    Here's how:
    1. Go to the Profile screen.
    2. Scroll to the Address section.
    3. Tap the blue Change button.
    4. Select Within your country.
    5. Select No, I will move the bike myself.
    6. Enter your new address.
    7. Confirm the changes.

What to do if we don't operate in your new city


If we don't operate in your new city, you are still welcome to keep using your Swapfiets! Just keep in mind that we can only provide repairs, swaps, and service within our designated service coverage zones. If your bike ever needs maintenance, you will need to bring it to our nearest active service area.


Moving to a different country with Swapfiets

Unfortunately, this means that you will have to cancel your subscription, and return your bike. After that you can register on the specific Swapfiets website of your new country. This is because every country has unique regulations, requiring accepting the terms of service of that specific country.
