Who is responsible for a rented Swapfiets?

As a customer you are responsible for the correct use of your Swapfiets. We will have you covered for most wear, tear and damage, but you will be asked for a surcharge in case of excessive damage.

We would like our customers to handle their Swapfiets as if it were their own. It's your responsibility to park the bike correctly and make sure you use your bike correctly in the traffic. Costs resulting from incorrect use are the responsibility of the customer.

Your membership already pays for most wear, tear and damage that will happen in the course of using a Swapfiets bike, so usually you won’t have to pay anything for replacement parts. However, if damage is deemed to be excessive, then you will be asked to pay a surcharge.
